Hey guys! Its been a while since I did a Seadoo Boat Resto so I was getting the itch to get another in the garage. I picked up this 99 Challenger 1800 and its pretty damn rough. The boat has been sitting at a marina since 2012 due to one low compression engine and one totally blown engine. The interior is beat and the exterior needs a massive cleaning. In the end it should be one sweet boat

Picking it up:

Engine Bay: The other engine is in pieces and in multiple boxes lol

Interior:

This will be my 3rd seadoo boat restore so I'm going all out on this one. Ever since I got rid of my first challenger 1800 I've wanted it back.

Stripped:

New captain Seats: The rest of the seats will be re-foamed and recovered with covers from Keith at seadooupholstery.com

Both OEM seats are for sale incase anyone is looking for some. They are in decent condition no cracks or rips. One is a little faded on the top but thats about it

Nice! Let me know if you need any small stuff I'm parting out a speedster and they share a lot of things.

So like Josh I'm curious what "going all out" is going to mean. Spec 2's, Novis, etc on each engine!?!?! That was my initial thought but I wanted a reliable runner.

I thought about this years ago, then I did the math. The Speedster is like 1600+ pounds. An X4 is like 430ish #'s. So, to keep it easy each 787 is pushing 800+ #'s..........double what an X4 weighs. So for all that extra kitty on pipes, ecwi, carbs etc.....you probably won't notice the added performance. Some things are best left bone stock.

I'm assuming he's painting it and doing the interior, radio etc..... Audio/Visual performance!

there was a cool video on youtube years ago with twin 951 swaps and cranked out a respectable 70 mph!

Going to the Seadoo Dealer today I'll post pictures tonight of all the goodies

I did a full 97 restore a couple years back but due to having a suv I didn't like how it towed thus selling it. Now that I have a truck I'm building the boat I want no corners will be cut. I wanna jump in and never have a worry.

Thanks for the compliments. Its gonna be a slower build since its so cold but I'll keep this updated

I was gonna throw 2 Rossier pipes, Milled heads, and installed the bored Rossier carbs I have but then I did the same math. Wouldn't be worth it. So I'm building my GSX to match my 95 XP800 and be done!

LOL this boats a wreck

Pictures just dont do it justice. Every time I look i find a new part I need to order

Both intake gates are broken off, the sun pad ripped off and flew away from heavy winds and is just gone, the storage tray got cracked in half on the way home, and the box of parts is missing a ton of bolts.

Good news is the MPEM fires on and cranked the one motor that was in it so Im good in that department. Both original motors cases are good and the engine mounts were never touched so i will rebuild and bolt back in no alignment needed since its the exact motor.

Had the same boat for four years. Sold it last spring to a member here. Damn I miss that boat.

Looks great so far. Keep up the good work.
