98GSX LTD (951) - cranks twice then stops

Have a 98gsx ltd that will crank about 2 or 3 times before then it just stops trying. Unplugging the key and re plugging the key on the post will give it another 2 or 3 cranks before it stops trying again. I thought maybe dead battery, but it does this even while hooked up to the charger and the battery reading a good charge.

What could be the issue?

Do not ever connect a charger or jump pack to these and try and start as you can fry the computer. Only charge the battery with it disconnected.
Sounds like a bad battery. Check battery voltage while cranking, it should not drop below 12v.

alright, so far did not fry the computer but I will take your advice. I just put another battery in it, charging it up now.. we shall see.
