I have a 98 sportster that wont start. When I put the key on, I hear two beeps. When I press the start button, it is beeping like a garbage truck backing up. It's not the same beep you get when it is in gear and you try to start it. Earlier, it wasn't making any noise at all when I tried to start the engine. All I would hear was a single click from the computer. If I unplugged the key, I could hear the computer click again. However, I'm not hearing any solenoid noises at all. I've checked all of the fuses. Any suggestions on what to try next? What does the alarming beep mean?

Also, I jumped the solenoid with a wire and the engine turned over. So, my problem is between my switch - computer - to solenoid...

If you jumped the solenoid and the engine turned over, most likely you have a bad solenoid.

I just tapped the solenoid a couple of times and Voila!!! I guess it got stuck from sitting up all winter. :) Gracias!
