98 GTI will not crank

just purchased a 1998 GTI put in a new charged battery and I put the key cap on it chipered two times and then pushed the start button nothing at all I did find a 5 amp fuse blown replaced it still does not crank 5 amp fuse still good has not blown again what now??? thanks

pull the plugs and try to crank it, spray a little WD-40 in the holes if it has been sitting for a while.

98 won't crank

well it will do nothing the starter does not engage no sounds at all after the two chirps and when you press the start botton nothing at all

could be the solenoid, there is an electrical box that you could jump / bypass to test... There are a lot of threads on how to do that if you run the search.
