I have an oil leak from the plug I'm the back of the rotary shaft. Bought this a few days ago and previous owner conveniently didn't let me know about this and after the first night the hull was filled with a bunch of oil. Looks like someone already tried to bang it in a bit but I used a socket and got it more flush after I removed the exhuast and got it seated much better than what's in the photos. It slowed the leak significantly but the leak is still present. Is there anything any of you can recommend as a temp fix, maybe a special sealent i can put om the outside? I really don't want to have to split the cases for this.

It can’t be replaced and is a non serviceable item.

I have never seen one of those leak in 30 of working on these. It’s always the hose above it and it’s typically a small cut from the hose clamp.

If you actually manage to get the plug to leak then drain all the oil, clean the area really well with brake parts cleaner, rough the surface with some sand paper, clean again and cover it with JB Weld epoxy.

I know for a fact it is the plug sadly, I cleaned it really well and see a very minor leak from the bottom of the plug. I saw a little oil in the hull but assumed it was just a line like you said was common. Replaced every line in the thing and was shocked when it was still leaking somewhere.

Okay will try out the jb weld and do that this week thanks. Hopefully it sticks! Thanks.

My guess too is that someone took it out for some reason when rebuilding it and caused this issue. This engine has clearly been messed with. Pistons aren't original, etc. didn't probably clean it after putting it back in.
