Bought this jet ski couple days ago went to dealer to get a key got it programmed from what ive seen since is the dess key its suppose to beep when you put the key on so theres no beep and no attemp to start im new with working on jetski's any one know what could be wrong.. the guy i bought it from said it ran before i got it..

Jonboy....did they test the key with your ski at the dealership, with you present? Recheck the battery connections,grounds...etc, then call dealership,if no progress, saying wtf...good luck

i got the key to get a good connection now.. now im trying to get it to start it dont do anything when you push the start button could the button be bad? could the starter have a bad ground?

also it beeps twice when you put the key on.. the guy at the dealship seem like he didnt want to help and he didnt even get the machine to beep.. he just was like you have a different problem and my computer says the key is programmed

You hear'n the 2 beeps?, If 2 beeps, then I'd remove the plugs, then grey shield from back and turn the pto, make sur'n motor turns smooth, if case, then open MPEM box, and jump solenoid, before that, check all fuses...:cheers:

Jonboy, before anything else, be sure the battery is in top condition. If the battery is old or not fully charged it won't do anything. Clean the dess post

I would start by cleaning the Post on the safety lanyard. It is beeping and saying it isn't connecting to the Mpem, (Multi Purpose Electronic Module) It needs to beep 2 times to let you know it is ready to start. Clean the post and cap with soapy water. Don't use any grease of lubricant on it as it needs a clean connection to make contact. Connect the lanyard to see if it is making a connection. 2 beeps and it's ready to fire up. If nothing, than check the ground- wire from the battery to the engine by the starter. It must have a good connection.

well earlier today i borrowed my uncles battery to mess with it and it would beep twice and id press the start button and nothing happen so i checked the fuses in the front where the only place i found them.. they were all good, we tried jumping the solenoid just turned over never fired up.. so i went and bought a new battery and put the key back on and no beeps now.. ill be messing with it tomorrow again, ill check the ground from the starter and such, one question could the start button be stuck on the off position some how causing it not wanting to start?

key beeps now.. start button is rusty.. spark plugs gettin no spark.. ill buy some new plugs and check it.. again any reason?? they could get no spark??

Here are some tests to help you out. Use a Multi Meter.

Engine start/stop switch verification;
Disconnect the Yellow/Red wire of the start/stop switch. Using an ohmmeter, connect test probes to the Yellow/Red wire and to ground. Measure resistance, it must be an open circuit (switch is normally open). Depress and hold switch, the ohmmeter should read close to “0” ohm.

Safety Lanyard Switch Verification;
If 2 short beeps are not heard when installing the safety lanyard, disconnect the switch wires.
Safety lanyard removed;
connect the test probes to switch Black and Black/Yellow wires. It’s an open circuit, there should be no continuity.
Connect one test probe to the White/Gray wire and the other test probe to the switch terminal. Measure resistance, it should be “0” ohm. Connect one test probe to the Black wire and the other test probe to the switch ring. Measure resistance, it must be close to “0” ohm.
Safety lanyard on switch; connect the probes to switch Black and Black /Yellow wires. Measure resistance, it must be “0” ohm.
Timer Verification;
The timer is integrated into the MPEM. Always confirm that the fuses are in good condition. To confirm operation of timer, remove the safety lanyard from switch. After 5 seconds delay, depress start/stop button once. The timer should stay on for 33 seconds (for example, the gauge(s) will be activated) and than turn off.

ok well got it running.. jumped the wires at the start stop switch and it started.. but the mpem i believe it is called doesnt beep all the time when i started messing with it. it beeps loudly then a little bit later beeps really quietly an can barely hear it.. then no beep at all and it still fires up?? and my gauges dont work.. maybe loose connection somewhere or the dont work the speedo looks like it had water in it lil rusty in there.. i need to get a new start stop switch its rusted and dont work i need to the new black cover for it and the cover..

Some times the beeper is bad. Feel it for a vibration as it just might not be beeping. If that is the case it can be replaced from Radio Shack for less than $15.00.
Give it a try to see if it vibrates only...

I believe that the beeper is in the front cargo box area on that model ...I think. It is a small round black unit with 2 wires coming out of it. the size of a quarter. I would check all the fuses and the connectors for corrosion.
