I have a 1998 GSX Limited with the 951 Engine. The ski has about 120 hours on it and has been well maintained. I recently replaced the stator. Before I started the replacement, the Information Center Gauge was fine. When I tested the new stator and before putting the exhaust manifold back on the IC gauge was also fine. Once everything was put back together, the ski fired right up but the guage would not work. I have a spare front wire harness, a spare MPEM, and a spare IC guage (which connects via plug to the MPEM), all of which I changed out but I still could not get the IC guage to register. When the DESS is activated, I get the standard two beeps and the ski fires. I have checked the fuses on the MPEM--all three, and they are fine. Is there a fuse that is strictly for the this guage that I am missing? Or an obvious place where the guage is grounded or powered that I can check? I have not disassembled the storage housing lid where the guage is located and would like to avoid this if possible, especially since my spare guage did not register when I plugged it into the MPEM. The MPEM on the GSX is complicated and I think is actually grounded on the stator housing through the main wiring harness, but I have double checked these connections and they seem fine (clean and tight). Any ideas or clues to my mystery?

That is a tricky problem, but it must be the connectors somewhere. Re trace you connections.

In an effort to deal with the connections, tonight I installed the middle electrical harness which goes from the MPEM to the engine ground on the stator cover, to the trim/speedometer connectors, to the rear electrical box and then to two other connectors near the spark plugs. Again, the ski started right up but the info center gauge would not activate. I rechecked the 5A fuse on the MPEM board which was still in good condition. Any other ideas?
