FULL-THROTTLE

I just picked up a98 challenger, with two adults and two kids it top out at 46 mph?? is this all I can expect out if this?
RPS up to 7000, runs great, I was hoping for 55-60.

Thanks,

Fran

That's it!...

I'll assume you have the Challenger 1800. Because the Challenger only has one 787cc engine. I have the 1997 model and I top out at about the same speed. Which, for 14 ft, is plenty fast enough.

Your boat sounds like the engines have good compression and is running in top shape if your getting that kind of speed. But, that's it, unless you mod with a solas impeller or the like.

You may look at Riva stage 1, 2 and 3 if your looking to hook up with a bit more speed. I personally don't recommend it, since for the money, the return really isn't that great.

46 mph on 110 hp is not too shabby. Especially with 4 people in it.

I am looking to buy one similar to yours soon...hope it works as well as yours.

If you are talking of the 1998 challenger 1800, it has Twin 787 engines.
I have the 1997 model and it tops out at about 53mph on gps with 4 adults. I have new prop's and motors and am fitting now ready for this summer. I am hoping for 60mph!!!!:hurray:

I have a '99 challenger 1800 and I can get the needle to 55 with just me in the boat...but with about 5 people in the boat i can hit an easy 50 MPH even when im pulling a tube...I would say have your compression checked...or go buy some badass impellers.......My boss has a sea doo PWC and he claims waxing the hull will add some speed (not too sure about that one though)

Top Speed

Thanks for all the input, I had two adults and two kids and it max's out at 46mph, both engines run great and the rpm's are matched, both impellers are in very nice cond, I will have to check on the impeller wear rings??
1mm max clearance is what i read, is this correct?
and of course the big question, how difficult are they to change.
Also where do you buy your seadoo parts?

Thanks,

Fran

Get a manual

This is from my manual, if you plan on doing your own maintanance then you will need to get your hands on one!!

Replacing the wear ring is pretty easy, cut in 2 places, screw driver out, replace by pressing new one in.
