it has strong spark in the front cylider, but the back one has a very weak spark , does the plug wire need changed or the coil

On the 97 XP the spark plug wires are part of the coil and can't be changed (at least on mine). The first thing I would try is taking off the boot that goes on the spark plugs . Cut the wire back 1/4" and screw the boots back on.

i have a 96 XP with the same problem the rear cyl spark is intermitant. have you figured out what is causing this yet?

I purchased the ski not running, I had the engine rebuilt, rebuilt the rear electrical box including replacing the coil with a new sea doo coil, replaced the front electrical box because the mepm was bad, tryed 4 sets of plugs and removed teh plug caps and cut the plug wires a 1/4 inch, even cleaned the plug caps, still has intermitant spark on rear cyl.

fixed it

After cleaning carbs and replacing fuel line, i ck battery voltage and found that the battery was not charging, repalced the rectifier all good.
