Just got a 97 seadoo xp , can anyone tell me what the wires are for that are under the bonnet ? Not connected to anything ? Cheers

OK thanks.....here is where things get interesting.....those connectors do not seem to correspond to anything on your '97 XP wiring diagram....so I checked the '97 GTX wiring diagram and it would appear that the 2 prong connector (Purple/grey, Black/grey) would go to the COMPASS and the Grey plug would go to the Tachometer and the Infocenter and connect to your MPEM.

Your wiring diagram does not show the ski as having a Tach or Infocenter guage or a Compass, so they could just be remnants of using the same harnesses for multiple skis of the same era.....

Those are wires to run a rev counter. The grey is the tach signal, purple is 12v and black is ground.

I know someone that has that ski, I can't figure out why Seadoo didn't add the tach. Wiring/plugs and delete hole is there so it's plug and play, I'd get me a tach for $30 to $45 dollars, they're all over ebay. SeaDoo 1999-2002 XP, Limited Tachometer Gauge 278001381 | eBay

On my 96' GSX, I added a compass, speed o, ambient temp and lake temp. Pretty much all plug and play, little work getting the speeo o wired in and activated in the info gauge. Ebay all day fairly cheap.
