97 gtx ltd - no crank

Hi all, new to the site and looks very helpfull!! I bought a 97 GTX LTD recent after getting rid of of my much beloved GSXRFI, the problem is i have only had it out 3 times and each time after around 20 mins the engine splutters then dies, it will crank over and make it a shore but thats it, but today it died at sea (far out):ack: and it will not crank at all? it just clicks from the starter and them beeps, i have changed the battery and checked all fuses but no joy? am really worried that the engine has locked up. there is a charge voltage ffrom the rectifer also and have taken the pump ass of with the prop and still no crank?

please any help would be much appricated as the local shop has said it would be a month before they have time to look at it, I am quite machnical and would like to repair

Pull the PTO cover at the back of the engine off and try to turn the engine by hand with the spark plugs out. I suspect you have a seized engine. Time for a rebuild.

The reason it was dies is you have a lean condition causing a seizure. probably clogged carp filters. because you continued to ride it and seize it, it finally gave up and sounds to me like it has locked up.

when you rebuild it, be sure to find the cause of your lean condition or you may seize the new motor too.
