I have rebuilt 4 strokes. This would be my first 2 stroke. Is the any special tools needed, other than a fly wheel puller? I guess I also need to find out what kind of shape the cylinders are in also.
I appreciate the info I'm getting.
2 strokes are much easier imo. SBT all the way never had a problem with them I get the 1 year warrentee but the premium engines have a 2 year warrentee,
(spelling is not my strong suit)
Make sure you get the rave valve in the right position....:agree:
ya i guess i will have to give them a call. i think the crank is out in mine. turns over, has compression, spark and fuel. just a little sluggish when cranking. like the battery is dying, even with a new battery.
It's not too bad, I would take plenty of pictures of how and where everything goes. I'm very forgetful though!! Good luck, guess I will be joining ya. I think mine is wasted too!!:ack:
Pulled the motor. Busted 3 head bolts taking head off. I'm planning on a rebuilt motor and going to call SBT tomorrow. Is there anyone else I should check out. I need to do this asap.
SBT on the web! Thats what I did last year on my 97 GTX. Engine came with color instructions and if you have questions they have excellent service tech to talk too!
I checked around here to have it rebuilt and every one was in the $2000 to $2300 range. So I ordered the SBT 1yr.
Now can someone give me some tips on getting the exhaust bolts out without stripping the allen heads?
You can try a tool called an impact driver. I used it on mine. Get and allen bolt socket for the driver, put it in the allen bolt and you hit the back of the driver with a hammer. It breaks the bolt loose. Link below shows what I used.
Pulled off the parts on the old motor and cleaned them up. Recieved the SBT motor a day early. Gona start putting the parts on the SBT motor tomorrow, which looks nice.
IT IS DONE! Yep have to take it out and do the break in. While putting it back together I could not keep from thinking. Should I block off the pump and mix from now on. I don't want to go through this again and if I keep it mixed I don't need to worry about someone running it dry. What do you think?
its a toss-up stud. You'll use 10x as much oil going premix, then you would with oil injection, but then again, only takes a grain or 2 of sand/air bubble and BOOM....
