I have a 97 GTI. This has been the greatest ski until this past Saturday. The ski runs great in the water and on the trailer. On the trailer it will rev up just like always, when you put it in the water it will take a small bit of gas and then no more. It will barely run 8 mph. I have been noticing a cavitation recently and I had plans to replace the wear ring. This problem happened all of a sudden and at first I thought it may have been something in the impeller. Not the problem! Do you have any ideas of what it could be? Could the wear ring have any thing to do with the problem?

Welcome to the seadoo forum croberts. You answered your own question...change the wear ring.

I don't know if this will help, but I own a 97 gti and it did the same thing. It sounded fine on the trailer but wouldn't run in the water. We replaced the spark plugs and it was fine after that.

i would probably check the plugs to see if the motor is running to rich or to lean, is it possible a needle on the plug was bumped, and now the carb is out of adjustment? my buddy did this to his ski and it was loading up, the seadoo had no power in the water. the other thing is check your timming, I had this last week i broke a key way on the ring gear which threw my timming off. seadoo fired up great out of water but when it was in the water it only had a 1/4 of its power at full throttle. i hope this helps.
