97 gti engine mount bolts

The engine mount bolts are loose that attaches to the motor. can i tighten these without removing the whole engine. Because i have never pulled a motor and put one back in. what can i tighten them with its kinda a tight area. it has the 717

Tighten them down. Also check to see if the mounts are broken. Grab the engine and pull it back and forth. If the bolts are tight and the mounts still move around you need to replace the mounts. These are available from our "parts" link at the top of the page. To install them loosen up one at a time and be careful to see where the shims are when you remove each mount. If you remove each one and put it back as you found it, you might not have to realign the engine. Keep us posted on your progress.

its not the engine mount that loose its the engine that is loose on the mount. there are four nuts that tighten the engine down to the engine mount. do i have to remove the engine mount to get these nuts or bolts.

so, the bolts hold'n the engine down on "cradle" is loose...:ack:
Get lucky, might be able to reach, if not, loos'n/remove the bolts from cradle to mounts, one side at time, maybe then you can lift it enuf, to tighten others, may need to wedge cradle..piece of wood..etc.
