Hey everyone, so I have a 97 GSI, ridden a few times with no problems. Last weekend i'm in the lake, doing maybe 40 running great, and its like i lost ignition, just rolled right down to 0 rpms and wouldn't start again. Its in the garage now, fully charged battery, checked fuses and all I got was a clunk, with the PTO moving about an inch. So I pulled the pump off, no issues there and it still does the same thing. So I pulled the top of the motor off, grabbed a pipe wrench and was able to get the motor to roll over. I'm thinking rear driveshaft bearing? This video is exactly what it was doing prior to being rolled over with the wrench. I can't be the only one!! LOL

When you say "got the motor to roll over", after you loosened the motor does it now roll over easly or do you still need a wrench to turn it over? Also can you see if any of the rings are broken and are the bores scored?

Sorry it turns over without wrench now just on the starter, the rings were fine and sleeves looked fine as well, no gauging or marking....I will say as it cranks now it still sounds bad, i know terrible description but it sounds like a bearing somewhere has let go, i'm guessing the rear driveshaft bearing would be a likely suspect and will be inspecting it next week.
