my 97 challenger single engine has been very sluggish this year. When i first take it out i cant get past 15mph with just me aboard. As I drive it a little and it warms up, I change the spark plugs and then it gets on plane much faster and I can actually hit 50mph. I noticed one spark plug turns brown and the other turns black with some oil on it. The last time I took it out the oil light came on and there was plenty of oil. please help?

Oil light...

Not to worry. I have the 97 model and my oil light has come on a couple times. This is a light to let you know the tank is getting low. Mine came on a couple times, so I just topped off the tank and it didn't come on again.

Your plugs and speed sound off though. You may need to check your accelerator pump, on the PTO carb. There is a little cam on it that squirts fuel into the carbs on take-off. You'll see a small diameter line leaving the pump and going over to the carbs. There is a "T" in the line where it breaks and goes to the MAG carb.

Make sure this pump is working by looking into the carb and rotating the throttle linkage under the carbs. You'll see and hear a squirt of gas going into each carb. If you don't hear or see it, you may have a line or the fitting at the carb stopped up. This can also cause your color change on your plugs.
