Sorry posted it in pwc first.
I have a seadoo challenger 97 with single 787. On a fresh rebuild about 15 hours, I have been having trouble with a 2 beep no crank from timed to time. about five weeks ago got the lake had it out for awhile went start 2 beeps nothing no crank. Towed into shore Got home started right could not get it to fail, so I replace solenoid. Had it out two more time no issue. two weeks ago pull it off the trailer. 2 beeps no start, looked around at it jumped solenoid turned right over but with push start just 2 beeps the nothing. ended up wigging the main harness going into the module (not sure if that's the cdi box, mpem or dess module) behind steering wheel, wiggled it and started right up. Yeah being the lakes 2 hours away! Worked all that day and two others. mon was at the lake work great all day 4pm after a short ride out to the middle shut her off. Twenty minutes later acted like battery was dead. It would just tap the starter repeatedly like it was seized just " tink tink tink tink tink" but it seems like the battery would lose voltage but at battery 12.62 drop to 12.3 when it taps the starter and the gages would reset and oil light would drop after tink. so towed in again. got home pulled head to see if that piston was not seized. All good there so jumped the solenoid and spun perfect. hit it with the button "tink tink tink tink tink. check dess port 0 ohms top post to white wire on port black 0 ohm to ring. blk/yel to blk no continuity put lanyard I then get continuity. jumped starter button same thing. look at unit under front bin behind steering wheel. nothing, all fuses are good. checked more connectors seen nothing going to check main ground tomorrow. about a hour it started to turn over again. anyone have any ideas?

thanks for your time everytime!

The starter turns over perfect if I jump the solenoid post. Tonight tried it 5 time 3 times it started and 2 times just tink tink tink tink tink. I am going threw all the grounds tomorrow. Hopefully I find something!

Well... from your description... it's either a loose connection, or a broken wire.

But... the lanyard posts don't last forever. They are known to fail eventually, and they become "Random" in their operation. I would get a meter on the lanyard post, and see what it's doing.

I meter post ring to blk/yellow 0 ohms top to gray 0 ohms and lanyard off no connection blk/y and blk no continuity connect lanyard continuity. I am thinking broke wire in harness or MPEm has internal issue. Can anyone tell me what the two box are. One is in the steering dog house and the other is in the ebox in motor compartment. One is mpem. And was thinking of going with msd enhancer 4255 get around everything? Anyone run one in challenger?

Did you try the advanced diagnostic mode? The manual goes through some testing also if the boat won't start by the button. If you don't have the manual you can find them for free.
