im really new at this and need help please

have a 96 spx when held at full throtle in the water it takes off then bogs down to an idle then will all of a sudden take off again then bogs down to idle. not really sure where to start noticed the vaccum line had a small dry rotted spot changed it no change in performance. just curious if anyone has an idea on where to start.

not good at this forum thing actually never did it before so forgive me if im in the wrong spot or.......

have a 96 spx ran fine the first couple of times out this year all of a sudden started running funny

when held at full throtle she takes off then bogs down to an idle then takes off again then backs down to an idle. noticed the vaccum line had a crack in it thought id get away easy changed it but still no change in performance.
carbs were taken off and the filters are missing friend said there are other filters so they should be replaced but probably not the cause of my problem, other then this really no real problems for the last 2 years really have no idea where to start so any info or insight would be great

It sounds like you need to clean the carbs. If it has the gray fuel lines you need to change them as well. You can go to like Auto Zone with a sample for the correct size. Be sure you use fuel line as a replacement. They deteriorate from the inside out and clog the carbs.

Rebuilt the carb ran it out of the water thought that did the trick but it didn't ran it in the water today and no dice lol think it may have something to do with the gas switch (whatever you call it) the switch that turns the gas on off or to reserve when switched to reserve it dies completly on runs like sh*t check those gray fuel lines they are green inside like a green substance kinda slimy ...is this the deteriation everyone is talking about? Could it b that switch? What does it entail to change it? Something that has to be dealer done? Pleas help just wanna ride :ack:
