I have a 96 Xp I just bougt used. The first time I took it out it ran great. The second time.. well not so good. The speedometer stopped working, along with the fuel gage. The other problem with it is that is doe's not want to start in the water. On the trailer it will fire right up. In the water, even when still warm I have to press the start button for about 10 - 15 sec while giving it some throttle, then it will normally start. I checked for leaks in the system and could not find any. I now need a new battery. Just wondering if anyone had any words of wisdom for me. :stupid:

start by giving it a compression test if the compression is good look and see if you have the old gray fuel lines. they break down inside of them and clog the internal filters of the carbs. they will need to be replaced and the carbs cleaned and I allso would replace all diaphrams and inlet needels. You can get by with out replacing parts most times but while I have them off I do it any way just to be sure every thing is good.
