i have heard alot about the oilers in the XPs that stop working and ruin a motor. anyone have any advise on these?
we just bought another 96 XP (2nd in 2 weeks =]) and it also has very low miles. is there anything we should know about these before we get in to deep? :)

In oilers do you mean the oil pump? If so, oil pumps do go bad. But...... the oil injection is the most economical way to inject oil into your gas and also keep your rotary valve lubed up. If your oil pump works, use it. If not every time you fill up with gas you'll have to measure out a certain amount of oil to mix in the gas every time. It will always be running at the premix rate you choose no matter what throttle. With the price of seadoo oil, it can get expensive. Keep an eye of your oil levels and make sure it is being used, also there many test you can do to test your oil pump.

I thought mine was failing, but found that between the previous owner, myself, and a salesman encouraging me to by mineral oil, there was at least 3 different kinds of oil in there, and it turned to Jell-O.

I just cleaned out the entire system and reprimed it with Semi-synthetic.

Haven't ridden it yet, but started it in the drive way for 2 5-minute runs just to make sure it was oiling and not going to seize up on the water.
