getting ready for this summer and went and put a pattery in my 96 xp had it all hooked up but the key in and nothing, no beeps, no gauges, no cranking. opened up all the boxes and checked the fuses and one othe the ones in the black box was melted a little. anyone have this problem before or know where to start?

switched the battery from my other ski and at first i still had nothing. started checking my fuses and put some new fuses in the rear compartment, still nothing. then i disconnected the lanyard post and reconnected it, finally i got two beeps, but then there were four long beeps, which in the manual said communication problem from cdi unit to the mpem, i think. so tomorrow im going to try to do the holder relay test. is this the route you all would go or should i be doing another test. also there is still no turn over from the started just to throw that in there, thanks for the help so far

I have a 96 SPX with same problem. I have service manual but it does not list where the three fuses are. Can someone tell me where to look?

open the luggage compartment, pull the white tray out. beneath the white tray there is a grey box open that box up and you will find the three fuses. also the black box infront of the battery has two fuses in there. all the fuses have caps over the top of them and you have to remove the caps to see the fuses.
