So, I'm doing a semi restoration on a 96 XP I picked up. The question I have is does anyone have a close color to the purple that Seadoo used on the pipes on the 96 XP's? And what type of spray paint are you using, automotive engine paint or just regular old rattle can? I do powder coating for my own projects but have had some bad results on cast aluminum, especially stuff that has been in water or oil, even after outgassing the part for over an hour, so I want to stick with paint. The engines in my Speedster were done with Dupli Color High performance wheel coatings (HPW 101 Silver) which is exact to the OEM silver. I have a very close match to the white by Dupli Color (same stuff HPW100 White) for the engine. But the purple is what has me going. So any feed back would be great, if you know something please share the manufacturer, color code, UPC#, where you got it, anything. Thanks. And when I get it done to a respectable state I'll post a build thread on it.

Thanks in advance!

just a thought, even if you want to stick with purple, maybe you would like to get creative with it :)

Thanks, I'm a bit of a purist, I actually wish I could get the OEM decals--at the right price. I have looked at many skis and the first one's I shy away from are ones with no paint on the head bolts--someone has already been in there. Ones that have modded motors or no stock colors. I know it's not for everyone, don't get me wrong I like to put my own touches on things but if when I sell stuff 9 out of 10 times the stuff that looks original sells faster than the modified stuff. Once I'm done to a point with this ski you'll see how clapped out it was yet amazingly the motor was never apart. I mean I passed on some more expensive running skis but knowing I wanted to redo it I just couldn't see spending more to just tear it apart and redo it. I really do like the twist you put on your paint job ti looks awesome for sure. With that paint codes listed above I can have a can mixed at my local autobody supply shop I deal with and they'll put it in a rattle can for me. I like spraying liquid but once I discovered powder coating I started to stray away from liquid, powder is so much "cleaner" in the long run.

This is where my purist come from, my 58 Bug I restored, bone stock 36 HP 6 Volt electronics
