just bought a used 96 gti ran good for two hours went home next day put battery on charger for about 2hrs "while hooked up to ski i read now prolly not a good thing" on low amp took ski to lake ran for 5 min wouldnt start now it blows the 5amp fuse as soon as battery is connected!!! i have chased wires and plugs dont see anything wrong and the only time it wont blow the fuse is when the plug on top of i guess the flywheel cover is has 4 wires in a plug going into that cover then the other end goes to mpem if i unplug that plug it will not blow??? any help here would b greatly appreciated i know my hotrods on the strip but theses skis r somethinig else i herd ive prolly got a bad mpem !! thanks for any input!!!

thats what happend to my 95 sp when i bought it. more than likely when your blowning that 5 amp fuse it the mpem

I had (have) the same problem on a 92. Doc Honda said it could be 1 of 2 things:

Bad mpem, or a shorted stator. He said to disconnect the stator in the electrical box, and then reconnect the battery. If it doesn't pop, then its the stator.

If it still blows, it's a good chance it's the mpem.

Sorry, man.
