96 HX 717 into 96 SPI 587

Has anyone swapped a 717 into a ski with a slower motor? I hate the HX that i have and am thinking about swapping it, so does anyone have any advice or suggestions?
 
it is a bolt-in swap. get a 720 exhaust from a 95 xp. i think GTI and GTX are the same also-as long as they aren't 787 motors. doublecheck that. shop eBay. they are cheap and you get lotsa pictures of what they look like. HX exhaust is HX hull only. you will need to swap the throttle and choke cables, or run the carbs-intake that came with the SPI. use the MPEM-CDI that is in the SPI. re-check ignition timing. if too retarded, then try the 720 ignition. ust the HX pump. virtually all 720 skis-even speedster-use the same impeller. (3 diff part numbers-all 11-22 pitch.)

Hey, is it necessary I change the pump or can i run the SPI pump with the 717 motor?
