The large approx 3" tube that crosses the rear of the machine from the waterbox to the other side where it exits the hull came off while at the lake the other day. I didnt find this problem until today when I took everything apart for the pressure valve that melted off the waterbox (another problem that I posted about in another thread), but this problem certainly explains why my ski almost sunk about 300 feet from shore when I took my back seat off and saw water gushing in.
When I removed the waterbox I noticed this hose was off the other side, but can anyone tell me why this would come off/loose? The hose clamp was still intact and snug, but seemed to be too far back.
Possible fix.... I was going to get another hose clamp and add that on along with the other one that is currently on there. Clean both surfaces on the exit and the hose before re-install. Would it be a good idea to use some automotive silicone to make sure this stays sealed?
Another thing I noticed was that the exit hole exit (the physical through hull plastic element) has some sort of hard build-up at the inner most part on the bottom. I would almost venture to say this is a plastic/fiberglass of some sort that melted and built up there. Is it ok to use a file and take this down or a box cutter and perhaps cut through it so it is more smooth? (Im thinking of the exhaust flow in this instance perhaps being inhibited).
Has anyone ever seen these just come off before?
Thanks,
-Rick
