Hello. Would like some pointers on the easiest procedure on re installing the tuned pipe on my 96 GTX. Its been repaired by tig welded at the plugs. If anyone has a easy procedure on how to put those 2 pipes together with the copper ring seal, or any tips on what i should be careful of, l would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

Hey, that clamp is the first thing you should tighten up. But, get all other bolts in their holes and threaded in a few turns first.
and connect the rubber with the hose clamp. If you’ve got a copper flange gasket, put it in between the two pipes and install the clamp, positioned so you can tighten it easily with a ratchet & deep 11mm socket
the two 13mm (wrench size) bolts on the side should be going through rubber to absorb vibration.
About the 4 top fasteners... if you have 13mm heads in the fasteners, you should change to Allen head bolts, at least for the one on the backside towards the front.
and the stud with the nut needs to be snugged up first. I put one in about 2 turns, then pull up on the pipe until it stops against the bolt head, now I put the flat washer and nut on the stud, and snug it down. If you’re reusing the gasket, clean it, clean the mating surfaces and apply a thin layer of silicone sealant to both parts before assembly. If you have a metric tap and die set, it’s a good thing to clean up the threads first, then blow out the threaded holes with compressed air, or brake parts cleaner.
Do not overtighten. Stainless steel bolts broke off in aluminum are hard to extract.
Seadoo says use lock tite, but I don’t.
havent found any that loosened up yet.
flushing out the water jacket is a good thing also.
