Hi,
I bought a 96 GTX from a friend with a seized engine but the boat was beautiful so I figured I would dump som money into it an have a nice ski. I took it to a local powersports shop and he said it would need a total rebuild since the pistons were seized. So I told him to go ahead and do the rebuild. He said my crank looked fine so he replaced the pistons and honed out the cylinders. Put it back together and I took it for a spin. Well, after about an hour, it shut down on me and when I restarted it, it would only putz around at idle speed and it sounded like it was backfiring with a hissing noise. So I took it back to him and he said that the crank was bad and I needed to purchase another crank so I bought one from SBT. Received the crank and had him rebuild motor again with new pistons. Now after only riding the ski for around an hour max, it started doing the same thing again, hissing and backfiring and only able to go idle speed and any trottle position. Any advice?? THANKS!
