Maybe someone can help. 96 gtx. First time on the water today. The wear ring feels like its shot. Only got up to 12mph at 6k rpm. So i will be replacing the ring.
Other issue... after 5 mins, it started bogging. Would only get up to 2500rpm. At one point i tried to choke it a bit. It stalled and started right back up. Then after bogging some more for a while something "popped" and it started getting full rpms again. That only lasted a minute or two and bogged again. I checked the plugs and both were pretty fouled. I rebuilt the carbs with genuine parts but didnt change the needle and seat. Could that be the problem? Or something else?

pull the plugs and Do a compression test,,,pull the pto rav and checkout the piston,,,crawl under the machine with a very strong flashlight and check out the wear ring thru the intake grate,,,no sense replacing the wear ring if it is okay.

Update... Rectifier was probably the issue. I also have a quick connect for a battery tender on the battery (with a cut-off switch, to prevent frying the electronics) which was hanging in the hull. Maybe it was getting wet and interfering with the battery power(grounding?). Anyways, pulled the red rectifer wire (and ziptied the tender connector up and outta the hull) and it ran like a bat outta hell today. Hope this helps solve someone elses issue.
