Hello. My 96 gtx 787 is not charging. Been reading, it could be the stator. I would like to know a procedure on how to remove this while the engine is in the ski.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Have you tested the voltage regulator yet. That’s the most common electrical part to go out on these.

I have not tested the regulator. I have been using the ski. All i have done was put a meter on the battery. Then increase the rpms to see if the voltage would rise, but it doesn't.

fuses, wiring connections at the Rectifier and MPEM. Battery cables, and Neg battery cable on the engine.
feel for stiff wires, oxidation migrates up under the insulation sometimes you get a High resistance connections, where a higher amperage load will pass through, like turning the starter motor, but lower amperage, like charging won't. all wires should be soft & flexible, ho festering up at the ends, and fuses with clear silicone grease packed in the fuse holder can insulate the fuse. silicone grease AKA plumber's grease, DiElectric compound, is great stuff, but make the electrical connection first, and then apply it to waterproof the connection, like battery cables, fuses. The Seadoo wire connectors are built to be waterproof, no need for it there.

Removing the stator would be a last resort. you can always check the AC voltage output at the rectifier with it running. if its putting out voltage... 15 -20VAC, lever B!
