Just picked up a 1996 GSX and took it out on the lake today for the 4th or so time in two weeks and noticed a small problem when at full throttle. It now bogs and surges a little. I can tell that it still has good top speed but now I have to hold down the throttle for about 5 seconds and let it bog and surge until it finally seems to catch up and operate normally. It was bought with new plugs and a battery and ran excellent until today. It idles fine and @ medium speed it seems to be fine. It only happens when I punch it. Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

the RAVE valves need pulled and cleaned most likely. possibly clogged carb filters and get rid of the grey fuel lines. but it sounds like the RAVEs

Grey fuel hoses = junk. Especially right about now. EVERYONE who has grey fuel lines on a 1994-2000 boat should now be experiencing problems with these hoses. The alarm clock has gone off.

The inside of the hoses breaks down in a chemical reaction that releases junk into the fuel loop. The smallest restriction points take the first hit - internal carb filters and the fuel selector valve.

See the link in my sig below.....

OK, This looks like my problem too.

So, I need new fuel lines. And a complete cleaning of the fuel system, to get the residue of the old grey lines out.

Gads. Why did they build it with rotten fuel lines?

:)
