96 Challenger Throttle Lever

I broke off my throttle lever yesterday on the lake. I managed to save the lever from going into the water. I looked the part up and it says that I will have to buy the entire assembly ( Forward/Reverse lever, throttle lever, and the VTS lever) for about $652.00. Can I purchase or fix this lever myself? It has a clean break at the bottom where it is molded into the curved portion of the cable assembly.

There's a whole assembly on eBay right now for $250. I broke my gear lever last year and was able to buy just the lever from RIVA.
