Hey guys - I'm a new PWC owner (1995 GTX) and just took her out for a shakedown cruise. I started it on the trailer and it seems to run strong but when I put it in the water it starts and then after 30-45 seconds it stalls out. Wait a few minutes and it will start and then stall again the same. I have fresh gas (with Sta-Bil) and fresh oil. New BR8 plugs as well. Any help would be appreciated!!

If it has grey tempo fuel lines & aluminum fuel selector valve, throw'm out.
What is the compression?

You could try turning out the low speed adjuster on each carb 1/8th turn to richen
it up. You'd have to take the airbox & flame arrestor plate to get to them.

OK - checked compression. 140 on one cylinder and 135 on the other. Also, I have been using the gas shutoff - not sure if previous owner ever did.

Thanks!

It's a little low... but in the running zone.

I'd say you just need to check the cooling lines, change the gray fuel lines, and clean the carbs.

Changed fuel lines and cleaned gas shut off valve - finally got a chance to test it out and :hurray: we are in business! Ski took off and seemed to run strong except at full throttle. When i pushed it to full throttle the engine started to stall. I never got a chance to clean the carbs. Can I use a fuel additive to try to clean it out or do I have a different problem?

Thanks again!!

Original Mikuni carburetor rebuild kits, (aftermarket kits suck) needles & seats. Read
up & DIY or remove and have a Pro do them for you. They need to be done. Bills86e
