951 hx build (sport gp)

Well I know there are several people on here that don't go to pwctoday so I thought I would post this here.

Well here it goes I grenaded my 787 after 135 hrs of hard riding and racing and decided that it was time to step up with the new rules of the sport gp class. My skis is being completely redone from the ground up from a bigger pump to a bigger engine. I decided to do this because I was tired of the ulgy yellow and white of the hx and my hull was beat up from all the racing and rec riding. I started by tearing down the whole ski to a pretty much bare hull and then got started doing the pump swap ( probally the hardest part). Here are a few pics after cutting out the pump tunnel for the xpl pump shoe.

Once this was done I bolted in the pump shoe and got to grinding on the ride plate ( lots of grinding ) once it sat flush like it's supposed to I cut the pump shoe to be flat with the ride plate here are a couple pics of the 155 pump in with the ride plate on and pump shoe in

Well this is about as far as I made it before having to go back to work here in New York but I have been buying a bunch of parts while here. I have a rebuilt seadoo crank coming for my 951 also have pro x pistons a new gasket kit new flame arresters new bypass fittings I bought a set of buckshot 47mm brm carbs a race pack hot tach 3 a 15/20 solas concord impeller and before I left I bought a rossier pipe that leaked and I had it fixed. Here are some pics of the pipe being fixed

I will be back in Florida working hard on this build on December 16th and hope to have it finished by the Daytona beach free ride.

good luck man, the HX rides low in the water stock, hows the weight of the 951 going to affect that? I assume you'll need the 951 MPEM, gauges, etc.

If this works, it's going to be one crazy ride.

Since you'll have a XP MPEM or GSX LTD, why not add power trim? I get a lot of use out of the VTS on my 02 XP 951, and if you have parts from an XP anyway...

Not gonna be much different than a 787 withe the fact of a light weight battery carbon fiber water box carbon exhaust tube and other weight savings. I'm also using a msd enhancer for a 787 which can be done by using a 787 mag cup or a 98 xpl flywheel. I also am gonna be racing this ski so no use for the vts I use a manual drop nozzle. My girlfriends dad has done the 951 in a hx already and it rips and has great top end it killed my superstock 787 which already did 62 mph.

he did twin pipes I'm doing a single so it's already gonna be a little lighter than his.

Great thread Dennis! Sabr I think he plans to run the ignition of the MSD Enhanser.

Small world cause I rode this engine for the first time yesterday.........I build it up from the ported cases and port matched intake mani that was his old 800. It's still a arm yanker!!

Thanks for posting Dennis keep us updated. The one thing Im seeing...the pump shoe looks to have the inserts ripped out so you'll have to epoxy some new ones in. Did you check the intake grate? Are you going to have to modify a JD or something?

They weren't ripped out I had to grid that area way down to match the ride plate so I have to drill it out and epoxy in some new ones. I was gonna run my modified hx had grate but it's just not gonna work so I'm gonna try a solas one from a 96 xp to see if it fits better I will figure something out. I decided I'm going to paint the ski black bottom blue center and black hood the blue is gonna be the same as this rx and I'm gonna get some blue rubrail inserts like on the rx it should look good

Ok here are some updates I had to re do the pump shoe area with glass and cut a bunch of fiberglass out to fit the pipe here are some pics it should be painted this weekend

I got the hull ready for paint. Tomorrow I will paint the inside of the hull with the epoxy floor paint also got the inserts in the pump shoe
