I just picked up a 95 XP.CHEAP! It has issues. I pulled the plugs and turned the ski over and it started shooting blue colored liquid out of the spark plug holes. While turning it over the starter would clickity click then kick in(battery was fully charged). so im thinking i need a new starter. So i proceeded to pull the head off and everything looks good except there was alot of blue watery liquid in the front cylinder. When i rotated the pistons it sounded like alot of water below the front piston.

Also the rubber boot on the drive shaft was ripped.

any thoughts of what/where i need to start with!

The blue liquid is oil from the center gears. It got past the seals while it was sitting. Clear it out, and you should be fine there. In reality, you need to crank seals… but that requires a rebuild on the crank… but it will be fine. It will just have a little extra oil for a while. You will have to crank it for a little while with the pugs out to clear the oil… but once you get it started… you should be fine. Even if it sits for a few weeks… it shouldn’t get enough oil in the engine to give you starting issues. If it sits again for a few months… you will have to clear it again.

On the starter… I would remove all the cables… clean all the contacts very well, and put it back together. You will probably find that it will be good after that.

In my opinion… I would replace the boot… clean it… give it a good “once over” mechanically, and go ride!!

I have cranked the motor over and over and it just keeps pumping out the blue oil. Do i block off the oil injection during this?

I checked the compression and rear is 130 and the front goes to 130 then jumps to 180 with the oil returning.

should i just pull the motor and replace the crank? maybe a complete rebuild?

Thanks for any help!

Same Problem...

I just bought a 95 GTS... Same thing happned when I cranked it over a real gusher.. I pulled the rotary valve cover off today and looks like all the crap is gone.. The ski had sat for 7 years, so I filled the oil tank yesterday with some fresh oil and marked it to see how bad the seals were leaking.. Over night there was no noticable change in the level so I assume it will be good to go when I get the carb all rebuilt and the fuel lines changed.. Snoop mentioned in one of the post some seal renew addative, I am going to give that a try.. The engine rebuild is farily expensive, if you go that way get a complete motor from SBT.. It's just not worth tryng to patch an old motor together .. Been there done that!!! This is my third one so I am getting a little smarter..
