I have a 95 xp that revs but will not take off. It takes a few minutes of revving the motor and feeling like it wants to surge before it eventually engages and takes off. The motor runs great. No issues there. Once it finally hooks up, it has lots of power and is still quick and responsive. Once I let off the throttle to a stop I have to go through the process again. I recently changed the wear ring, PTO on the motor, and checked the splines on the drive shaft. This past weekend I changed the pump out with a donor one I had on the shelf. Same problem. Im at a loss of what to check from here. Please help

By changed the pump out you mean the impeller? How much clearance is there between the wear ring and impeller? This has cavitation written all over it.

I replaced the wear ring and the problem was still there. The clearance is minimal. It took a while to completely turn over when I put it back together.

Did you install a new neoprene seal after pulling the pump off? How does the carbon seal and boot look? Both of those can cause cavitation

I did. I also bought the kit that had a bearing, shaft and Orings for the pump when I installed the wear ring. The carbon seal and boot, is this on the inside of the hull?

Yes they are on the drive shaft inside the hull. Not sure if your ski has the carbon seal or bearing setup? If the carbon seal and stainless hat don't seal well, it can suck air from the hull and create cavitation issues

a lot of 95 xps had a problem out of the factory where the ride plate isn't sealed good enough, happened to me and I took it off and put silicone all around it and reinstalled it and it fixed my problem.

95 XPs seem to be very popular for this problem. These are shots of a ride shoe, 95 XP, that I pulled off and resealed this summer. The pens show where air can be drawn in from the rear and routed to the front side of the impeller causing air to be pulled in. The first picture is of how I reseal my ride shoes, it will never leak air but your never pulling it back off.

A reseal won't always solve the problem though. From all the resources I have found the 95 XP had an 11 degree start pitch on the stock impeller which is really low. Look for a 15/21 or 22 pitch impeller as well.20200628_151422.jpg

Look like my 96 GTX have same probleme, few times in the summer after few seconds at idle speed, not all the time, it become imposible to take off, and then eventually engages and takes off as normal.
Gtr230jetski are you projecting to do the sealing procedure?
Does anyone knows something different in that case between thes GTX and XP, same 787 engine?
Thanks
