my 95 spx will start and run fine if you jump starter to battery. If you connect positive wire to the battery it dies..right now I've got a wire run straight to the starter and run through a push button starter switch to the battery. but the only way to kill engine is to choke it out. any ideas??

Solenoid
Replace the starter solenoid. IF ou hook up the positive lead does it just click and nothing else. If so, use the process of elimination. Something between the battery and the starter must be bad. If it runs its not the computer or the ignition coil. Its probably the solenoid, its the main link between power and the starter. I think ther like 60 bucks online or you can probably just reference one at autozone. Its basically just a switch.
