So I haven't run my jet ski in a while and now that I try to start it wont turn over. I have a fully charged battery (tested it on my other jet ski) and nothing.

I open up the electronic box just to check and see if there were any bad fuses but everything seems in order, if I put the positive lead on the wire that goes to the stater it will crank over but obviously I get no spark since I'm bypassing the MPEM.

Any ideas what can I try next? I'm lost!

Thx

Make sure all your connections are good and tight and super clean. Sometimes the plug wire tips wear out too. You can cut about 1/4" from them and then re install the boot.

Yea those are clean I replaced them recently... any other ideas?

Most of the time the rev limiter from mpem goes bad and this will cause no spark. Disconnect the black/red wire and see if it will start, if you got spark then it's the rev limiter.

Also there are two relays in the MPEM one is for charging and the other is for the ignition system.

They are the same, just different functions. try switching these and see if you have spark, if you do the ignition relay is bad, it is the one near the module center.

Thanks!

Finally figure out what it was ! the 'STOP' switch on the steering was bad, I swap it with a spare one I had and now it starts !

Thanks everyone :)

That's great. :hurray: It seems most of the time it's something small that is overlooked.

Sounds like it's getting starved for fuel. I would go through the whole fuel system starting with the fuel lines, replace with black fuel lines if you have the gray ones. Clean selector valve and all filters.

Then adjust carbs to spec:Low speed screw 1 1/4
High speed screw 0
Idle in water 1500 rpms
Idle out of water 3000

have ya done a compression test, lately...

Just checked it yesterday 150 in both cylinders.

I went ahead and replaced all of the lines with black lines and it still does the same thing, starts for a quick second and it dies right away... could it be timing ? I did removed the carbs to get them clean, I try to set it just like it was but maybe I miss something does anyone have a how to so I can check it?

You said you pulled the carbs, did you pull the manifold off also, and if so, did the RV come with it, or stayed on the shaft. If it came/fell off, then yeah, timing may be off, if no, then timing good. However, may have a stripped brass gear, and only way i can think of testing it, would be to remove the manifold, and turn the RV.
Did you clean/replace entire fuel system...fuel selector valve, inline filter..etc. Did you tear apart the carb/s and go thru them, or just hold in hand, and spray cleaner on them and in the "jackets"..just ask'n, brother

I finally got her up and running!!!@!@! starts and it stays on!!!! so now all I have to do is tune her because it idles very high, Does anyone have a picture of all of the screws I need to adjust on the carbs?

Thanks!@!
