95 GTX Gauges not working

I have an 95 GTX that the multi purpose gauge is not working. When I press the start button I get nothing, no lights no beeps. I pulled it out and plugged it in my 95 XP and it worked fine, I also I checked the fuses in the electrical box and they were ok. Sounds like a power problem to the gauge to me, I read that the power wire is purple, is this true on all older Seadoo's? Does anyone have any ideas on what else it could be from past experiences?
