Because of a performance issue, I pulled the carb and cleaned the internal filter (it was clogged). After putting back together, it ran for about 4 minutes fine(with hose attached). At 4 mins, it stalled and shut off. I started back up again and after about 1 minute, it started to shut off again. I disconnected the wire to the temp sensor and it recovered and seemed ok.

I'm wondering if the engine was overheating? I never heard any beep to indicate it was hot. Is it normal for it to shut down if it overheats? I really don't even know if it was too hot.

Thanks for any help.

also check to see if it is actually overheating. if you can rest hand on head while running, it is cool enough. sometimes the thermal sensor is getting old and lying to the mpem and saying it is overheating. on the other hand, if hose is hooked up wrong, it may be overheating. if head is uncomfortably hotto the touch, it is.
