Any particular location in the carb more sensitive than others when it comes to ensuring the passages are cleaned out with cleaner and with a air hose.

My ski though new to me cranked up and I could tell right away the carbs needed cleaning . The main throttle cable where it hooks to the carb that linkage is very stiff giving me the impression it had some old gas that turned hard etc etc inside the carbs.

Will it hurt the diaphrams to blow air through the passages or should I diassemble them as well ? Also should the butterflies on the intake side be on the stiffer side or should they spring back into there neutral position .

Any advise is appreciated.

Take the carbs apart. Be careful taking the diaphragms out not to tear them. Remember how it comes apart for re-assembly. Spray air in the journals, and carb cleaner too. Clean the small filters inside also. The "butterflies" should return to neutral position. Spray PB Blaster on the shaft bushings on either side and let them soak in the spray a while. Open and close them till they work themselves free. If they aren't working free they will stick open and not operate correctly. Usually the choke "butterfly" is ok, just the throttle ones sticks, and mostly it is the Mag Side( forward of the engine where the magneto is) that freezes. Do you have a service manual? It makes things easier. If you want you could join as a "premium member" As a premium member you can down load a authentic seadoo manual from the seadoo manual library. In the library is a variety of manuals for almost all years and models. You can view as many as you like on line as a PDF file, or download it and print it for your personal and privet use. There are operator manuals and repair manuals for you to do your own repairs on your seadoo. The repair manuals have everything from troubleshooting, repair procedures to winterizing. It contains wire diagrams torque specs and pictures for disassemble and assemble instructions. In the spec sheets it tells everything needed to maintain oil changes, spark plug gaps, carburetor rebuilds and impeller wear ring tolerances. Thanks Karl

the tear down and cleaning went well .

Does the throttle shaft assmblies come out by tapping on them once you disassembled the linkage and the removed the butterflies. It appears both sides are very stiff.I have good schematics of the carbs,

I definetly will check out the joining of the premium site.

I would give it a couple days of PB Blaster to loosen up the bushings. If you have to remove the butterflies, it's a project. You need to cut the thread end of screws that go through the shaft...because they are peened over, and won't unscrew. Than unscrew the remaining part of the screw. carefully remove the center disc...it bends easily...tap out the shaft...and replace the bushings on each end of the shaft. The kit cost about $30.00 each, just for the bushings and screws.(you won't need anything else from the kit) it's available at most seadoo dealer shops that handle Mikuni carbs. Let me know if you get in a jam...I have places to order them from too. keep me posted.

PB Blaster

I have not heard of this before, is it a specific carb cleaner thats better than a normal cleaner? I have a omc cleaner solution that normally works good so I was going to let it sit in that but if you re commend the PB blaster I will pick up that , is it a seadoo dealer as well ?

Throw me your source name as well for the kit , Also I need a a kill switch was wondering if you can buy anywhere used good parts.

PB Blaster is the best thing for loosing up everything! I use it all the time. I own a Custom vehicle business, and it's a staple, in my business. I have had this stuff get nuts loosen off bolts with no threads left! I wish I owned the company...lol
Pick up the PB Blaster at Auto Zone...Walmarts...Advanced Auto Parts.ect.
Keep me posted on your project, let me know if I can help.

The PB Blaster worked well on the Mag carb

it freed up the carb , now I am letting the pto carb soak now , that butterfly is stiff but coming loose slowly.

The High speed screws the manual doesnt say a preliminary set up on that screw. Any suggestions on tightening them and backing them out to a starting point. I set the Low speed butterflies up where resistance was felt and then backed them 1 to 1& 1/2 back out for those prelims starting point.
