94 XP foot grips(purple ones) replace what glue, rivet holes???

I have an old 94 XP and it has the plastic foot grips with rivets holding them in. When replacing them with new stock plastic grips, what glue or epoxy to use to seal them up so they don't leak? I replaced them and put new rivets in and now it leaks. So I am going to drill out the rivets and put a glob of glue or epoxy in the holes then put new rivets in. This should work but need to know which glue or epoxy to use.
