Yeah I know this is an old ski lol.. but my father in-law and i were given two 91 xp's for free (mainly to join our collection of winter projects). The hull and engine of this particular one are in good shape but the ski wont start. Ive checked everything i can think of. The engine turns well and is not seized, electrical box is almost spotless with no corrosion, connections tight, batt new, plugs have a good spark, fuel flow is good and fuel is entering the carb. It started briefly then stopped, now it just cranks over n over with some light white smoke... til batt loses enough juice to crank it. Any tips would be appreciated.

oh..i also have checked the wiring on the emerg shut off switch and the stop button and all are good from what i can tell

yeah...clean down as far as i can see and can see fuel entering it when cranking, only thing i can think of is to pull the carb and make sure its clean straight through to the block...but.. the plugs are wet after cranking attempts

verify that you have spark???, if none, pull wire from coil, then if it fires up, either switch is bad, or rev limiter in ecu is bad, inwhich ecu needs replaced...

thanks for the ideas guys...i DO have spark.. i checked both plugs and both have a good spark. Today i pulled the carb, looks good, pulled the top end off and cylinders look great with no damage. Only thing i can think of is maybe a compression leak at the top end of the pistons? Maybe a timing issue? Gonna re-seal when i put the top back on. Just puzzles the crap out of me having fuel delivery and spark but no start.

when i pulled the carb i checked the rotary valve while i turned the drive and its turning... but ill def give that a shot also and see.. thanks..
