[i recently toasted my engine by running too lean. well injection pump works fine but i got rid of it. i was towing 3 ppl in a towable and i had a rider and myself makes 5 on a jet ski (96gsx 787) blew it up. well i rebuild it myself only spending about $360.... 2 new pistons and 1 new sleeve and the boring charge of both pistons was $160 total of all 360, here is a pic of my old piston...it was time for something to give up 274 hours yeah its about time.

did any of the aluminum get down in the crank case and rod bearings? just wondering if any of that would damage the crank after you run it for a while.

yeah the dome got some damage. i got it machined and took the jetski out for a test and runs like new only one thing its taking in water inside the engine the gasket i made of RTV red silicone is not holding letting water inside the engine. now i'm home pissed cause i have to work on it again....any suggestions about gasket making?

more rtv...

Nah, thats a bummer,..if anything, when install'n head again, make sure its lined up, using the "bolts" as guidance. Center the bolts in each hole.
WHen run'n, b4 it "popped", what was compression, and did you compensate it with higher octane gas?

no the base gasket is the one i made of rtv not the head compression is about 158 on both it runs like a champ but when i get it on the water the rtv gasket gave up and cylinders took in water
