I hear that the supercharger should be rebuilt every 100hrs but does it always need a full rebuild or just the washers replaced? And why is the kit for the 185hp version so much more expensive than the 215+ version? I'm looking at a 2004 GTX with an unknown history that hasn't run in several years so I want to do what needs to be done but not necessarily replace a perfectly good shaft if it doesn't need it.

You need the full kit. The plastic bearing raceway becomes brittle over time, then the let go.

Look at my previous posts as I have outlined this many times.

I'm getting mixed messages out there on what I really have. It's a 2004 GTX Supercharged which I thought was 185hp with a 17-tooth drive gear per the kits I see for the 185hp supercharger kits. When I do parts lookup for this ski it shows a 16-tooth gear. I haven't pulled the SC yet but I'm trying to put a parts list together and I'm not sure which kit to buy or even what HP this ski is now.

Seadoo parts warehouse show it as a 16 tooth gear. Your machine is 185HP as they did not add an intercooler to the ski back then.

I see this kit on ebay for instance: Seadoo OEM Supercharger Kit 420881151 17 tooth. That's the right part number but it says 17-tooth so I'm confused about whether or not this kit will work.
