fired up once for about 1/2 second. When DESS key is NOT on post I can hear a clicking sound down in engine compartment when pressing start button. No beeps, and no indicator lights. It would start before our light freeze down here in the south. it would run but would stop after 10 or 20 seconds.

Sounds like it didn’t shut down completely after your last start. Maybe the start/stop switch is not giving the proper stop signal to the ECM or the ECM is getting it and not shutting the ski down. Something in the start circuit is stuck closed.

Spark and Fuel? Is there a way to check these two things. In the old days it was easy, pull a plug, ground it and observe if it was sparking. If there was a spark, then squirt a little fuel in cylinder, replace the plug, turn the engine over and if it only fired a few times then it was a fuel problem. With fuel injection and modern spark systems I'm reluctant to try anything like that.

I've checked the fuses, including the ECM fuse.

You have an electrical issue in the start circuit, download a service manual and start reading. There are wiring diagrams in the back to help with the troubleshooting. Pretty common problems especially around salt water and as the ski gets older.

Thank you!
Also, battery, battery, battery. Take it out of the ski and have it load tested at your local auto parts store. Don’t just rely on battery voltage. You have to be sure you have a good battery when troubleshooting anything electrical on your ski.

Thank you!
Interesting "ski asylum" that there is no wiring diagram, It appears that the ECM is a logic controller/computer. What I need is a flow diagram of the ECM. Also interesting that SeaDoo utilizes the CANbus for communication from various sensors and actuators. Additionally interesting SeaDoo has a throttle by wire like cybertruck's "steer by wire". Apparently the throttle by wire system enables the forward/reverse and neutral which is way cool. From the service manual, one possibility is the throttle position sensor can be erroneously over 60%. I'll just have to find the components of the throttle by wire as well as the stop switch signal. This is baffling. I'm reluctant to go probing around the pins on the connectors.

Chapter 3 for the flow diagram and chapter 9 for wiring diagrams in the shop manual. Shop manuals for the newer skis are pirated only downloads on EBay. BRP also manufactures airplanes so a lot of trickle down technologies and terminology.

When you press the start button with the key off, it should wake up the ski and cluster comes to life and is ready to put the key on next and then start. This is the normal starting procedure. If the cluster is not coming on but you hear slight clicking it is usually a battery issue. If it has the original battery, you are overdue for a new one. These skis are very sensitive to voltage and current and you will need an old school AGM or liquid battery, the new lithium ones will not work and you can even damage your electronics. Never jump start a seadoo.

Thanks ski-doo. The cluster does come on and it cranks but does not start. My original post of no indicator lights is no longer true.
It's not the original battery, nor lithium. I replaced it 6 months ago and it has plenty of cranking power as it it has cranked a lot. I do trickle charge it to keep it up.

I could only find a 2021 manual, which did not have a flow diagram. since I'm now getting the cluster to light up and it cranks I'm back to thinking its a fuel or fuel pump issue, in the manual there is a procedure for checking the fuel pump. I might try that if its not too involved..

Are you getting two beeps after you attach the dess key? So press the start button, cluster wakes up, attach key, should get two beeps.

The newer skis like his don't do the 2 beeps anymore.

For a couple quick fuel and spark checks...
To check the fuel pressure, pull the fuel rail and check the injector spray pattern while cranking. you can use 3 glass jars and then check for fuel condition and water contamination.
To check spark, pull a spark plug and ground it while attached to the coil old school method while cranking. As always be careful with fuel vapors and spark don't mix.
