2013 GTX 260 coolant loss….backflow hose?

Bought a 2013 GtX 260 which had surging issues and mysterious coolant loss. I think I found the surge issue ( leaking intercooler). I also discovered a small very loose hose from the coolant bottle to the motor….i think it’s the Backflow hose from the motor to the bottle. Could this cause significant coolant loss? there was a clamp on it so I assume it’s pressurized (vs the overflow hose which is right next to it). Thank you

Yes. The coolant recovery tank is pressurized when the ski is at operating temp. The cap is the relief valve if the pressure goes over 15 (or so) PSI, and excess pressure is dumped via the overflow hose.

Thanks that's helpful and explains why I didn't see coolant there despite being very loose . I found the leak... coolant is leaking bad from one of the nipples on the ride plate. Might be the hose or nipple. I need to dive into it this weekend to see what's causing it. Hoping those nipples just screw in and out. Mine are side by side on the ride plate. If I can't repair it'll need a new plate... Ugh.

Get yourself a cooling system pressure tester, or rent one from an auto parts store that has a tool loaner program. My cooling system tester kit came with three sizes of radiator (or coolant tank) caps. The small one fits the Sea Doo tank. Makes it easy to pressurize your cooling system to find the leak.

Bought a $35 set off Amazon and the cap fit perfectly. This fitting was spitting coolant and broke off as I was removing it.... Was so brittle. Ordered an extractor set to get the threaded part out. It's clear where the leak was. Replacing both for peace of mind. Thanks so much for all the advice
