Just bought the ski last week and it now has about 8 hours on it. Had it out on the river and was playing around jumping and doing some sharp turns and the proceeded down the river @ about 45ish. About 15 seconds later the check engine light flashed and beeped once and it cut power drastically. The light didn't remain on, but the ski wont go above 5000 rpms and around 35mph and has literally no power. limped it back to the dock and now am stumped and am going to have to take it back to the dealer i JUST bought it from less than a week ago. Ive had nothing but issues with the ski since i bought it with 0 hours on it this is just another problem. Im still waiting on them to get the bolts in that were either missing or not put on when i go the ski that go into the rear brake/reverse scoop so it hasn't had a functional reverse since i bought it.... any ideas what i should have them look into?? Its never had water of any sorts in the engine bay and hasn't been rolled at all.

It went into limp mode for some reason,,,

Assuming the 2012 is like the slightly older skis, no lanyard attached and press the start Byron five times an see I there are any stored codes?

Being so new, I'd take it back to the dealer and pretty much insist they give me a new ski to ride until they fix that one. They likely won't do so but I bet they get right on fixing yours,,,

Take it back to the dealer and have them look at it. Should still be under warranty. I know diagnostics on the iBRs is a little different than the older models. Haven't had the chance to spend time familiarizing myself with the procedure.

I checked for codes but none came up. The light came on for like 5 seconds while it beeped and then went off and didn't come back on but the ski never corrected itself. Its going back to the dealer to have the first oil change (along with a 2nd ski thats brand new) tomorrow i just like to have a few ideas to throw at the service people because if they are anything like some of the motorcycle repair guys ive encountered they love to throw money at things that dont fix the problem.

you may have sucked something up which clogged the intercooler causing it to overheat..

Is there a easy way to check this? i already looked under in the grate? not sure the name for it but when it happened that was my first thought and i hopped off and dug around but didn't feel anything. Didn't get any sort of temp warning, not sure if the ski would even warn that or not anyways.

youll get a check engine light with a sensor code. or a p code.. you would have to pull the hoses and check for a clog

but since you bought the ski within 30 days.. nearly every dealer has a 30 day warranty and they should fix the problem under warranty.. ask me how i know haha
