2011 GTI 130 vs. GTI 155 Purchase Significant Differences??

The title pretty much asks the question. I've notice that the 1494cc engine is available in all of the skis for the 2011 year models. Of course, some are supercharged to get more horsepower, but what are the differences between them, primarily the 130 & 155hp? I have found a 2011 GTI 130 with only 37 hours for $5K. Should I pull the trigger??

First from the Rotex web site its 131hp for the GTI 130 and 144 hp for the GTI 155
Because the bump up in power on the 155 is mainly due to a cam profile, their well be a trade off for a bit more hp with respect to low to mid rpm torque , fuel economy, distance traveled on a full tank and the engines power band ( the range of rpm's the engine can pump out the torque )

The trim adjustment is a big plus on the 155 pwc but by filling the intake grate and ride plate holes , that problem has been minimized on my GTI 130 . Lastly more stuff in the box , the more things to go wrong .

I have been looking for a GTI -155 with a tune but have not found it so I don't know how top speed and other factors will come into play with that higher rpm biased cam but will keep looking .Lastly if your interested in cruse control the cheap Sea Doo ski mod works great on the GTI-130 and you wont be disappointed .

Both of the non-SC engines are very good. The 130 does a great job for what it is. I let a member ride my RXT-X 255 SC ski and I rote his GTI 130. I was shocked as I expected it to be a dog. But it was pretty impressive. That said, I also own a GTX 155 and it runs fantastic. The difference from the 130 to the 155 is the Cam and the MPEM. If it were me, I would get the 155. Just a bit more power and still very good fuel economy. Plus, I believe you get a few more options on the ski.

When I hear about a 6 year old ski with only 37 hrs I get a little concerned about its up keep .
I mean if the oil is not super clean then that means it might be the oil put into the pwc at purchase .
At any rate , if you can get that thing to run smooth at 55+ mph , then that would be a A+ for me .
If you do buy it , get rid of the old oil and antifreeze asap .

There is nothing wrong with the 130. For me, owning a 255 and a 155, I'm partial to them. But the 130 is pretty bullet proof and runs very well for what it is. Seadoo has paired it with the right impeller and it performs very well.

if nothing else, it is a very good starter ski.

Thx for the info CJ. I'm primarily interested in bulletproof rather than performance. It's for my wife and I still have old 96 XP to act ignorant on. Haha.

I have a 2011 GTI 155 LTD. I turned 200hrs near the end of last season. I have only done normal maintenance. That ski is about as bulletproof as I could expect. A member of our ride group has a GTI 130. As described, the 155 has a bit more acceleration, fuel economy differences are not even measurable.

As CJ said, I am partial to the 155, but that 130 is a great 1 st machine.

i own a 2015 gti 130 and love it! i asked the same question 130 vs 155 and most of the answers were that there wasn't much noticeable difference in performance. maybe a few more mph.
