Guys, I would appreciate any help that you can provide. I have been reading for a month, and trying to figure this thing out, but I am running out of options. I have purchased every manual that I could find trying to find a wiring diagram that matches my boat. I have literally spent $100.00

I have two keys that are associated with my boat. Candoo Pro shows them as active. When I power the system up, I am getting 1 long beep and the Check Engine light comes on with the code P1655 (DESS Shorted to 12V or VBK). I have purchased all new Weather Pack connectors and female pins to eliminate with DESS connection under the Helm. I have tried two separate DESS Post with the same result. Both Post check out fine with my Fluke. Neutral Switch has been checked.

I have check the White/Grey wire from post back to ECM B38. No problem there. What I haven't done is check for continuity on the three remaining wires on my 4 wire DESS Post. No matter what manual I look in, I cannot find a diagram that matches my boat showing these connections.

If any of you guys could share your wisdom, I would be greatly appreciative.

I am hoping that I do not have a bad ECM, but. I am suspicious

Thank you,

I just went through this problem with my 2007 Speedster. Not sure if you can go to the Candoo forum but here is the link :

I tried the VCM first but it ended up being my ECM. If you have a Candoo scanner tool you can disable the DESS system and it makes the P1655 error go away and the boat can be started with any key. My problem was a couple of weeks later the engine started dying out, at the worst possible place. My ECM went bad and it started with the P1655 error. If you think the DESS post is good and the wiring is good the only other thing it could by is the VCM. The support that the Candoo Pro makers provide once you buy their scanner is enormous, wiring diagrams and the tech support was worth the price of the tool.

Is yours a 2009 Speedster 150? If so its looks to be wired the same as mine.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I have a licensed CanDoo Pro that I bought a month ago to try and figure this thing out. I have 2 post that check out fine. I know the White/Grey center post has continuity back to B-38 on the ECM, but I have not found any diagram that shows where the Black/ Yellow and Black/Purple go from the post back towards the engine.

I saw on CanDoo Pro where it said to disable the DESS, but didn't think about trying it.

Thanks for your advice.

Can anyone recommend a company that I can send my ECM to to have it checked? If so, what is the usual turn around for that type of service?

Looking at the wiring diagram those other two wires from the DESS post goes in then out the VCM then in then out the fuse block then to the ECM. Mine are labeled black/yellow and black. The black being the common ground for both the reed switch and the DESS system. I just bought a new ECM from Partzilla. But your problem could be the VCM. Seems like a few other people have had the P1655 caused by the VCM. The VCM for my boat has been discontinued, I found a used one.

My 2007 boat uses the same ECM from a 2006 GTX. Of course it has to be the same type of engine ie: SC or NA. Compare the part number for your boat to the previous year ski. I was thinking I might be able to find a 2006 GTX with a blown engine and cannibalize the ECM out of it but was not able to find one.
