Hey guys. Scoured the posts and found a lot of helpful info.. Problem persists.

First time out for the season:
1. DESS key lights up dash, then no dash info. except compass.
2. Long beep after DESS key placed.
3. Starts strongly and runs well up to plane.
4. Loud warning on opening up the throttle for a few seconds. Goes away immediately. Doesn't return if speed is reduced a bit.

After forum review:
1. Battery pulled and checked at auto parts store. "Good"
2. Checked fuse terminals in engine bay and dash. All good except blower fuse. Changed.
3. DESS key without any corrosion.
4. Same results with trial of another DESS key.
5. All visible connections pulled and reconnected. No apparent loose connections or corrosion.
6. No obstructions noted on shaft at grate or at exit.
7. Able to idle indefinitely without overheating. Though, dash info. is never visible. RPM's, hour meter, fuel, etc..

Thank you in advance. I fancy myself a good troubleshooter, but this set of issues has me stumped.

At the end of last year season, was the boat running fine without problem? What was done to the boat at the end of last season as far as maintenance / winterization?

I don't have much to offer in the way of advise for the no display dash problem. As for the engine alarm when running, check your oil level. With the boat level the oil needs to be right in the middle of the bends on the dipstick. If the oil level is higher than that it can cause running issues and alarms when the engine revs above idle. Despite the engine alarm when reved, does it seem like the engine is running strong or does it miss and stumble? If it is running rough could be spark plugs, these engines tend to eat them up and it is a good idea to replace them every year after the first season run which burns off the fogging oil.

Without the dash display working you can't pull codes to narrow the issue further. Could be any one of the many sensors tripping the alarm and code. May consider investing in a Candoo code reader which is about $400 to help diagnose or visit a dealer and have them pull the stored codes.

Thanks so much devonte007. Yes, boat ran well at end of last season. I on the gulf coast of Alabama, so no real winterization. Just ran clean water through it and filled it with marine gas. Oil level is good. The engine always ran good and strong. No power dips or sputters. Fires up immediately and runs smooth. As for the dash display...that actually bothers me the most, because I can't correlate what's happening to the engine alarm. That is, is it overheating, are the RPM's too high, is the check engine light or oil light on, etc.. Just for clarity, all of the dash lights work on start up. This indicates to me that all is in order to that point. Then they go out, no RPM's, no fuel, etc..
Thank you for your thoughts

You need to bring it to a dealer to hook it up to the BUDS system or invest in a CanDoo for about $350 and do all the work yourself with no dealer ever needed again.

Sounds like the CanDoo would be a good investment. Would it identify the electronic and dash issues, or only the engine issues?

It will list the fault codes which are occurring and making the beep. You can find details on it on the candoo site, they have a forum just for it too.
